This is the first time I make banh bo hap. I don't know what I did wrong for I've follow everyone of the steps on the recipe but it's not fluffy and oily like the one posted by VF NinhKieu? Please help.

You are right. I just checked the expiration date on the yeast package and it expired just last month. It does make a big difference even though it's only 1 month out.

Did you proof the yeast? Even the yeast is expired, it's still works.

Test to see if the yeast still alive. Proof the yeast with warm water (105 degree F) and some sugar, leave in a warm place for 5 - 10 minutes. If the yeast appeared foamy then you can use it, if not then buy a new package.
